Vicki (Qiongzi) Zheng
Vicki (Qiongzi) Zheng completed her Master of Music (Performance) at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, majoring in guzheng performance, and is currently undertaking her Doctor of Musical Arts degree. She also holds a guzheng teaching position in the HIP (Historically Informed Performance) Unit. Vicki received the Margaret Henderson Scholarship in 2016, the Albert Scholarship in 2017, and the University Postgraduate Award in 2019.
Vicki began her guzheng study at the age of nine. In her earlier years, she undertook training with Gao Wugang, the Vice-president of the Qinzheng Society of Shaanxi Province. In 2019, with the support of the University Associate Dean, she gained the privilege to be under the tutelage of Professor Zhao Manqin, a renowned guzheng master and pedagogue in China.
Over the years, she has been invited to perform on the guzheng at various music events in Australia, including solo guzheng performances in the Government House, Chamber concerts, and other cultural and music events.
