As a recipient of the Multi-faceted Excellence Scholarship, Toby is a talented pianist, conductor, vocalist, and music educator. Toby completed and achieved two piano diplomas, the DipABRSM from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music as well as ATCL from Trinity College London. He has also gained a distinction in Grade 8 violin as well as theory of ABRSM.

Completed his Master of Music at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Toby garnered multiple prizes during his postgraduate studies, including different awards from the Musicological Society of Australia.

He is also a casual academic staff member at the Conservatorium, teaching undergraduate music courses. He is also frequently invited as a pianist for various organisations for performance and accompanist, such as the Beecroft Orchestra, the CoOperative opera company, and the Canada Bay Community Choir. Before establishing in Sydney, Toby teaches piano in Hong Kong, with many of his students winning music competition prizes, as well as getting distinctive results in exams. Toby is currently Assistant Conductor of Christ Church St Laurence, opera conductor at the CoOperative Opera Company, and Opera Lirica, as well as tenor at Sydney Chamber Choir.
